A 1.4% Investment

Time is money.

Not many of our cute little social sayings are more true than those three little words. Ask any working parent which they would rather have - an extra $100 a day or an extra hour of time all to themselves, and I would bet that many would pass on the extra Ben Franklin in their pocket.

As true as those three little words might be, what if you really challenged yourself to think of your time as being actual currency?

It’s not that big of a stretch, really. Think of how you already talk about time and how will you spend it. If you monetize your time, and break the day down into 15 minute blocks, you would have 72 of these blocks to invest every single day - assuming you are like many and only manage 6 hours of sleep.

If you were to get serious and hire a financial planner, the smart planners will present you with an easy attainable plan to invest in a future that you dream of. It’s all about starting small. What if you started investing just 15 minutes, 1.4% of your day into something that you know will make a difference in your life?

“You will always have time for what you make time for.”

Tim Tebow

A 1.4% investment in learning a new skill. A 1.4% investment in picking up the phone to call that person you feel bad that you haven’t talked to in forever. A 1.4% investment in a brisk walk. A 1.4% investment in silencing your phone and spending it in prayer, meditation, or simply listening to yourself breathe. A 1.4% investment in reading an article to inspire and motivate you for the rest of your day. A 1.4% investment in YOU.

Don’t let yourself off the hook with the “I don’t have time” card. You have as much time as the person next to you. You have as much time as I do. With the currency of time, there is no Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk to be jealous of. We all have the same financial statements.

Take control and start small with just 1.4% of the currency of your time and let it empower you.
